A lethal tapestry

The spiral net trembles under the weight of its captive. Hopelessly struggling to free itself from the fatal trap, its voiceless screams of terror reverberating along gossamer strands, harmonizing with its ever weakening death throes.

Silver threads so fragile, yet stronger than steel, deadly as a garotte. A lethal tapestry woven on a artisan’s loom. A work of art, a miracle in its simplicity, a masterpiece of geometry.

Catching sunbeams as easily as tasty morsels, light dances along each strand of silk as southerly breezes hum songs of autumn, swaying between branches.

Another victim ensnared, an epicurean snack for later.

The 100 Word Challenge, a writing prompt created by Velvet Verbosity, takes a single theme to tell a story in only 100 words ~ no more, no less. This week’s theme is ‘Tremble.’
