Runaway

Broken hearts

It’s been a struggle. Somewhere amid the drama and tragedy, we lost each other. So focused on winning the battle, we began fighting our own little skirmishes apart. But I needed you, needed your strength, your calm and reason.

In this lull, let’s runaway together. Sneak off to a secret haven, just us two. No contact with the outside world, no distractions, nothing but time to get reacquainted, and fall in love all over again.

We can talk of our future, what we hope for and dream about in early morning hours, in our oversized bed, backs turned, arms empty.

  1. Oh there are so many people I could do this with – those relationships aren’t just our spouses but our friends and families and more. And oh wow I can only imagine how much harder it is to write a post like this that is exactly 100 words than the majority I write.

  2. This line: “We can talk of our future, what we hope for and dream about in early morning hours, in our oversized bed, backs turned, arms empty.” captivated me.

The ache for closeness, and the reality of that empty spot that cannot quite be named or filled is so evident. Very nicely done.

  3. Such an honest look at the direction relationships sometimes take. I think it’s easy to fall into old patterns, old habits…and to fall out of love. I loved your last sentence. It spoke volumes.

    Nicely done!
