I have a lot of macro shots this week, something I very much enjoy. I love getting in crazy close to an image. You can see things when magnified, that you overlook otherwise. It also means I can get close to wildlife, without actually getting that close. Jack Hannah I am not.
I’m going to give away one of my photography secrets… I do use my 55-200mm lens… a lot… but, more useful to me is shooting in JPEG Fine at 3872×2592 pixel resolution. I have shot in RAW a few times, but that takes up a lot of space on my media card.
My photos? They are huge! So cropping them doesn’t necessarily mean a loss of image clarity. The biggest problem I have is focusing on the right spot so that most of the image I want to use is clear. I often turn off the auto focus to get exactly what I want, where I want.
There you have it… my photography cheat for the week.
(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, or 50mm f/1.8 prime lens and/or a Nikon CoolPix S205)

That last shot makes me want to rush down to the coast and sit and watch boats all day!
Beautiful set!

The fence shot is just perfect. I really like how it almost looks like wire wrapping itself around. Cool!
