While I was out Saturday running errands, I drove by our city youth ball fields. This was the first weekend for rec ball tryouts. Little kids were everywhere, little wobby-helmet-headed kids. I couldn’t stop giggling about how they looked like the Rick Moranis character from the Mel Brooks movie, “Spaceball.”
The scene also reminded me of when my grown-up kids were both in little league, either on t-ball teams or softball. That seems so very long ago. I wanted to stay and watch the tryouts, perhaps relive those childhood days- a time when running home meant something so much different from what it does now.

To me running home always meant I needed to pee really bad.

My kids never played baseball or softball. I’m actually excited that Taylor’s boyfriend started playing on the high school baseball team. Now I get to go to the games.
