I made my way down some back roads this weekend on my photo hike, trying to stay ahead of the rain. I came upon a rainbow and nearly caused an incident pulling over to get a shot of it. Just as I got in place to snapped the photo, a second, paler arc formed, trailing a faint, but visible red line above the first bow.
No, I didn’t have an emotional breakdown that would be worthy of a viral YouTube video, but I will admit I got a little verklempt. It really was quite beautiful in person.
A few of these photos were taken at the beach in Navarre, and the last few were shot at Rocky Bayou State Park near Niceville.

Is it just me, or is a small face visible near the center top of this shot? Just a pair of eyes and the tip of a nose can be seen, like a tiny man is peering out from among the conks.
(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4)

Nice. Your never-ending supply of beautiful scenery sort of makes me sick, though.
IN A GOOD WAY… ;)
I love that you almost caused an “incident” rather than an accident. That last photo almost looks like walnuts.
That wave picture is amazing. It made me relax just looking at it.
I see the little “hobbit” too.
I see it – err – him!
Me time rocks! :)
I can see the face, only one. Did you noticed it when you shot the picture or later at home?
Double rainbow, all the way. Beautiful.
I love the sunrays shining from behind the clouds.
The cloud shots are just so absolutely GORGEOUS!
And that RAINBOW!! ♥
Your photos are awesome! I see the double rainbow. NICE! and that photo of the ocean is breath taking I tell you! LOvE your blog so much I a new member! Have a great weekend. Lisa
Thank you so much. I’m glad to have you here!
thanks for my word of the day – verklempt
nice rainbow – somewhere over that there a land I heard of
:-) I see more than one face. And such enchanting skies! So mesmerizing! I love that you go on a photoshoot regularly!
I try to get out at least once a week, just to take photos. My husband and son are very supportive, and understand how important it is for me to have some ‘me’ time.
What can I say? Rainbows are a rare treat. Thanks for sharing your rainbow. I don’t see a face in the picture, but that doesn’t mean it isnt’ there.
i really like the lines that the fences make.
I don’t see the faces… but my brain isn’t working right today…
Great capture! I do see the face.
I see the face as well. I am also thinking, I should go looking for the pot o’ gold.
I too follow rainbows and consider them good luck! Your wedding couple will have a wonderful future!
I was thinking – look at that little guy looking at me as I continued to read and discovered that you see him, too. :) It is a GREAT picture.
I’m so glad I’m not the only person who can see him.
That rainbow picture is awesome. Cool story. Scott and I were on our way to our wedding. We were running late, as we had been informed by everyone who could get ahold of us, which was hard, because we didn’t have cell phones .We didn’t much care – they could not, in point of fact, start without us. But halfway between the hotel where the bridesmaids and groomsmen were staying, we came upon a double rainbow. We would have totally missed it if we’d been on time. Which has completely reinforced our inability to arrive timely forevermore.
Some things you just have to make time to experience. Double rainbows would fall within that category.
Well, I don’t think I see the face you mean, but I DO see four others (full faces), including one that is animal. I know, I’ve got a pretty active imagination…
That’s great! I went back and found three other faces too. It’s deceptive, but these conks were actually tiny. I did a tight crop to focus on the first face I saw.
