Farmer’s market

An eclectic bounty of organic produce covered the kitchen counter. A bowl of freshly pitted cherries sat in the sink, the discarded innards a maroon mess on the tile floor. Felicia still held the silver pitter, looking every bit like an implement of torture, or pleasure. Absently squeezing the handles together, she didn’t immediately notice that her neighbor, Rita, had let herself in the back door.

“All these fantastic vegetables,” Rita squealed, in awe of the unusual shapes, sizes and colors. “I didn’t realize you were such an epicurean.”

Continuing to play with the pitter, Felicia smirked, “I’m more epicurious.”

The 100 Word Challenge, a writing prompt created by Velvet Verbosity, takes a single theme to tell a story in only 100 words ~ no more, no less. This week’s theme is ‘Epicurean.’

  1. Damn, now I am super hungry after seeing that picture. What a gorgeous rainbow of deliciousness :)
Got to wonder what sort of person would leave the pits all over the floor though!!

So, tell me what you really think:
