Order is beauty

Clearly, she wouldn’t kowtow. She would never live under the thumb of such a dictatorial edict.

As the unruly crowd of sycophants behind her shouted slurs and threats, she held her ground and her head high. She would not bow.

Her companions begged her to be reasonable, to just follow the tacit rules and not create a scene. It wasn’t worth the heartache. She didn’t need to be a rebel. No one would laud her for fighting the establishment.

They told her, “order is beauty”: cold, Grande, chai latte, soy milk, extra foam, and just one pump of gingerbread syrup.

The 100 Word Challenge, a writing prompt created by Velvet Verbosity, takes a single theme to tell a story in only 100 words ~ no more, no less. This week’s theme is ‘Rebel.’

  1. LM(Love Muffin)’s is “Large, Iced Decaf, Skim, Double Blueberry, 5 Splendas” at Dunkin’ Donuts. Order. Peace. As long as you get it right. Don’t EVEN come home with the wrong stuff.

  2. Love it. That’s probably not the way anyone expected to use rebel, but it’s so there. Personally, I get an eyeroll more often than not when I (try to) order at Starbucks. Love the creativity, and what a fun photo!

  3. LOL, I LOVED this. Mostly because I am that woman. First I hate Starbucks, Hate it…it’s evil, truly. Big is Small, Small is Big. It gives me a migraine, (plus I don’t drink coffee) and I hate authority, so the whole counter culture there reminds me of a cult…truly.

you used the word SO well, I love coming over here Tara, you made me giggle…and nod. :)

So, tell me what you really think:
