I look like I know what I’m doing.
Black rubber-encased camera with a custom-made neck strap; a 55-200mm zoom expertly twisted into place; long hair expertly encased in a black ball cap; capped off by a tan field vest with its many pockets filled with prime lenses, filters, and batteries – I am the very image of a professional photographer.
But, I’m not a professional – I only play one on TV.
Trifecta, a weekly one-word prompt, challenges writers to use that word in its third definition form, using no less than 33 words or no more than 333. The week’s prompt is: Image [noun \ˈi-mij\] 3: a) exact likeness: semblance b) a person strikingly like another person

This is quite fun: the description, the photo, the use of the word.
It is interesting, the creative arts. We have such a drive to qualify what we do somehow, to the point of quantifying it. Way back when I was starting out in theatre, taking a class here and there and auditioning for things, it was difficult to define myself as a performer. Since that time I have done some writing, some acting, lots of editing. The desire to put professional, ie. PAID, in front to qualify how I see myself is insurmountable at times, but the longer I live, the more okay I am with not being “professional” but rather just being.
Does that make sense? Great piece.
I showed your pictures to my daughter. Now she — and four other members of my family – are participating in 365. Your work inspires people in ways you can’t imagine.
Thanks for joining up, Tara. I love Lou’s comment. I think he’s got it spot. Even a brief perusal of this website shows that you’ve got a lot of talent both for writing and for photography. Thanks for this clever little piece. Looking forward to your writing and your photos over the weekend.
I think he’s got it spot on…
You do more than just play one on tv. You do a great job with your photography, whether you’re paid for it or not. That said, I didn’t realize that the baseball cap was part of the uniform ;)
I just realized I need a field vest like that. I absolutely need one.
Love the self portrait. And if you’re not professional, it’s not because your work lacks the quality!
Love the opening to this. Good write.

love this Tara! Well written and love the image :)
Pretty sure you are a professional because you have MAD TALENT. Your photos are stunning & gorgeous.
Professional or not, your photos are Amazing.
Hey, I’m just judging by the pictures, but you look pretty professional to me!
You look like a professional to me!!
I really enjoyed this!!
Funny! You must have studied your “acting” role very thoroughly to produce the photos you do :-)
What makes a professional professional? This was an interesting take on the prompt. Very creative.
You are as capable as any professional photographer I’ve seen. And you’re probably a better writer than 99% of Professional Photographers, too. Which makes you BETTER.
I love this. And don’t sell yourself short. When you love your passion, you ARE a pro :)
Great shot too.
Oh, BTW, could I ask you some camera related questions? I’m looking to buy my first DSLR :)
You are a fab photographer!
Believe! :) Love this – and love the pic. :)
(one nit – ITS not IT’S which would say it is or it was) Otherwise – poifect!
Love it. Love what you do and do what you love!
Well, that’s because you KNOW what you’re doing, your photos are the living proof!
I can totally get this. I’ve felt the same way so often!! Love it.
passion > professionalism
you have the passion
