Crossing the line

Living in Northwest Florida, I’m within an hour of the Alabama border. I’ve about exhausted the state parks around here, so thought I’d take a drive to visit a park in Florala which is just over the state line. Florala ~ get it? FLORida and ALAbama, FLORALA?

The park isn’t very big, and other than an old playground and short boardwalk along the lakeshore, there’s not much there. It was a nice drive, and I took my time getting there, pulling over a few times to photograph old abandoned buildings.

I also hiked around a couple of parks nearest my house. They’re handy standbys when I don’t want to drive too far. This 365 Project has been a good incentive to get out more during the week for shorter trips.

And yes, I did actually take a photo through my sunroof with my camera phone…

  1. Tara, you shots are gorgeous! You are fantastic at what you do! I’m trying to get my husband to do the photo challenge. He is a beginner, but I think he has a great eye!

  2. I can’t get over how gorgeous the merry-go-round shot it. INCREDIBLE. Awesome that you’re stretching your photography to different levels. I can only seem to take good “food” shots with my iphone. hahahahaha.

  3. The slide shot is fantabulous… I am not sure it would be quite the same in my local park as we don’t have that amazing blue sky but I might give it a try anyway.

I agree about the 365 project, it has been brilliant at getting me to take my camera to all sorts of places and see the opportunities for shots where I never knew they existed before.

  4. Lol, I was going to comment on the copyright watermarks but I’ve been beaten to it. So clever.

Beyond that, great pictures. I’m buying my first DSLR in a few days and I can’t wait to start playing with it…fingers crossed my pictures aren’t all crap :)

  5. Beautiful photographs! You are very talented and inspirational. Each time I take a look at your pics I think to myself: “Where is my camera? I should have it with me all the time.” I feel as if I have a photographer’s eye but don’t take the time. Starting today I will charge up my camera & have it by my side. Thank you!

  6. Tara, I am so inspired by your photos! Each time you post new ones I scan them and find myself saying, “Oh that one is my favorite!” Of course, the next week I change my mind :) This week I adore the one titled Whitewashed! No matter what the photo, I enjoy the creative ways in which you add your watermark. Your use of your watermark as a door placard in Whitewashed is by far my favorite, with the library shot a close second! Keep sharing!

  7. Oh wow! I love the angles you choose, like the bottom of the slide and out of the sunroof. (I just typed sunroom. I’d like one of those!!) I also like the creative places you stick your copyright. I found myself (and I’m half asleep at 7AM) reading the wooden sign above the door of the abandoned house thinking “Oh WOW the name plate is still .. ohhhhh”

  8. The blog header is beautiful – and the photos are all fabulous, Tara. But what I always find striking is the way you watermark them. :-) Your photography makes even everyday things look special!
