I Will…

I Will...

I keep telling myself, and anyone else who’ll listen, that I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions. All that does is set me up for failure. I’m hard enough on myself without adding more baggage to the situation.

Instead of making a list of things I want to achieve that may be unattainable, I’m joining Aunt Becky, and members of The Band to proclaim what I WILL do.

This year I turn 50. There is so much left in my life to accomplish. Not milestones I had hope to have reached by now, but new adventures waiting for me, things I may have never thought of before.

I want 2012 to be my best year yet.

As part of the BB2G World Domination Tour…

I will be brave in my attempts. No matter how much I want something, if I never even begin, it’s not going to happen.

I will get outside more, turn in my hermit membership card and not spend days on end inside my house. I need to unplug, unwind, and enjoy life.

I will reconnect with old friends and make new ones. I will take care of my friendships better, nurturing and building them instead of being so passive.

I will stop taking everything people say and do in the worst possible light. Being that cynical is just too tiring.

I will be more mindful of my own words, and be more understanding and patient.

I will breathe and think deeply more often.

I will pick up a book and actually read it. There are enough books in my house to start my own library, and at least half of them are unread.

I will ask for help when I need it. I can’t do everything alone and I can’t expect people to read my mind.

I will take care of me. I will put more than a cursory effort into looking nice. I will shower, dress and fix my hair every day. I will value me.

I will find my happy.

What will you do this year?

  9. I love this post, and most especially because it is all about I WILL. You’ve got the right attitude towards it, although this whole fixing your hair and such *every* day? Now that’s sort of asking a lot, don’t you think? ;)

I will finish the book and see where it goes.

I will be proud and thankful for what I have not what I don’t

I will be more patient and understanding as a husband and father

I will appreciate my fellow writers/bloggers. They’re pouring their hearts out, the least I can do is read and comment.

I will accept who and what I am and not care if others do not.
