In and up

Walked around downtown Pensacola this weekend, taking in some of the interesting architecture along Palafox and Garden… looking in and up.

(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4)

  1. I love doors. I don’t know fully why, but they make some really awesome photos. I actually took a TON of photos of doors when I was in Italy this summer. A friend took the easy way out and just bought a poster of photos of doors ;)

  2. I forget who it was that was always taking pictures of doorways and then apologizing for her fascination with them. I think of her whenever I see a picture of a door and then think, wow, apologies aren’t necessary – doors are a cool subject matter.

  3. As usual, great shots….although some look like they may be in not the best neighborhoods (rusted lock gate, graffiti doorway) Hope you are being careful.

    Love your work!

    • The funny thing was that each of those photos were taken either across the street or right next door to the Federal Courthouse downtown. It was very safe, if still a bit run down.

  4. My city is a great place to look up, there are so many details to be seen. You are inspiring me to take some black and white shots. Do you take them in black and white or do you change them after the fact?

  5. Felicidades on 300 posts, Tara R.! And once again, I can’t decide on which of your gems is my favorite Superior Snap. Have to say, though, that I’ve always been partial to clowns…

So, tell me what you really think:
