I’ve been home a whole week since my trip home to Tennessee. Like ‘they’ say, now I need a vacation from my vacation. There was a lot to catch up on once here, much more work than expected for only seven days away.

I collect crucifixes and rosaries. My collection also includes an 1852 edition of de Imitatione Christi (The Imitation of Christ) in the original Latin. I spent a couple of hours one morning reworking the shadow box where I display them. During our recent trip I found a mother-of-pearl rosary and another vintage cross at a cool little antique shop in Sevierville.

While the peeps assured me my toms got watered in my absence, they were looking very sad once I checked on them. After some TLC from me, and several days of drenching rain, they made a remarkable come back. It’s not clear from the photo, but this little guy has a split near the crown. I hope it survives long enough to turn. Otherwise, it’s getting fried up green ~ not a terrible fate.

The recent rains also had a charming effect on our neighbors’ climbing vines. Ones I consider fancy weeds. Weeds that are encroaching over my backyard fence. I think it’s past time to get out my clippers.

Not sure how much it will help, but I need to do a better job of keeping our bird feeders filled. Maybe if I do, then they won’t vandalize the trees so badly.

I received such nice feedback from last week’s self-portrait, I thought I’d include more this time too… five ~ at least!
(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4)

It took me a couple seconds looking at the raindrops to understand what you meant by “5 self portraits”….great shot :)
Oh I wish I would have known you collected rosaries. I could have picked you up a really cool one when I was at the Vatican. As it was, I got two for the wee ones that I’ll give them at their respective First Communions.
Yay for being home and ohhh those vacations needed. You don’t want to see what my garden looks like right now after me having been gone and it’s honestly too hot now to weed, so it’s only getting worse. Maybe I should just give in and do the 5 minutes I can each day…. I blame you ;)
LOL!!!!!! Brilliant self portrait.
