This past week, while out on one of my daily walks, I stepped in a pothole and fell like a Giant Redwood. Twisted an ankle, but managed to not bust my arse. Hurt like a mofo the rest of the day, but with ice and taking is easy, I was up and about the next day.
By day two, I tried a short walk. It was going well, only a few twinges… but… about half a mile out and it started raining, hard. It wasn’t supposed to rain. In the long run, it was a good thing. It kept me from pushing too hard and ending back off my feet.
Needless to say, I didn’t get in a photo hike this week. This set, taken exclusively with my Nikon CoolPix while on my walks, includes images I captured within two miles from my home.
(The added bonus to all this walking the past 2.5 weeks, I’m down more than six pounds.)

It just jumped up and grabbed my ankle, I swear
(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens and/or a Nikon CoolPix S205)

I want to come take a walk in your neighbourhood! The natural scenery is just stunning and so different from my own.
I need to do more walking. That is all. :)
So proud of you!
Congrats on the weight loss! I am really glad that your ankle is doing better, too. These shots are awesome– point and shoots can do okay, I guess! That, or the handler is AWESOME ;)
i love the cloudy skies shot — and it made me giggle that you shot the telltale pothole. way to go on the walking!
Never doubt the magic capable with a point and shoot. These are wonderful!!! And WAY TO GO with the walking… I bow down to you and your stick-to-it-ness.
Oh honey, you R awesome! Weight loss despite bum ankle…I may just bow to you. *bow* Is your ankle ok now?
And thanks, I oft forget the beauty so close to home.
Pretty and relaxing :) I’m sorry to hear that you fell but am glad you weren’t too injured. I, too, took a digger (last night, fell on some ice) and am hitting the ice pretty hard tonight. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we are both just feeling our ages and will be givin’ ‘r in no time :)
Who needs to go on photo hikes when you have such great material right near your home! That said, I hope your ankle heals quickly so you can go hiking again I LOVE your photos.
I always love your photos! Great job on the weight loss, not so much getting hurt though. I hope your ankle heals soon.
I am sorry you got hurt. I love your images though. So many beautiful sights. Even the man hole cover looks awesome!
What great nature shots! My favorite is the path, but the manhole cover is also very cool!!
Oh my. Wow! What a gorgeous view to walk through!
Nature shots are my favorite. Love the nesting photo. So Sweet. Congrats on the weight loss! That’s awesome!
Great pictures; I really liked all the nature shots :) Thanks for sharing.
Love how you strategically put you TM stamp in the photos. Great set!! Love the nest :)
Nice! I really like the “foundry” shot. And congratulations on your weight loss!
The third and the fourth and that last one are my favorites. Yaay for the weight loss!
Wonderful photos! Love all the details!
Totally love the first shot! A lovely bright set :)
You take pictures of things I love – roadways, paths, manhole covers. Fabulous! six pounds is awesome! Hope the ankle heals quickly.
Love the dock shot. The colors really pop and the reflection is quite interesting. Makes me annoyed that I have snow on the ground LOL. The framing on the bird’s nest is cool too, really like the fact that it isn’t quite centered.
I also applaud the photos as well as the lost pounds. Great!
Great images again, love them!
Congrats, well done, over six pounds! I promise to start walking when I’m in better condition…
Have a good week ahead!
Sorry to hear you hurt yourself but well done with the weight loss and great pictures.
