Morning walks

This past week, while out on one of my daily walks, I stepped in a pothole and fell like a Giant Redwood. Twisted an ankle, but managed to not bust my arse. Hurt like a mofo the rest of the day, but with ice and taking is easy, I was up and about the next day.

By day two, I tried a short walk. It was going well, only a few twinges… but… about half a mile out and it started raining, hard. It wasn’t supposed to rain. In the long run, it was a good thing. It kept me from pushing too hard and ending back off my feet.

Needless to say, I didn’t get in a photo hike this week. This set, taken exclusively with my Nikon CoolPix while on my walks, includes images I captured within two miles from my home.

(The added bonus to all this walking the past 2.5 weeks, I’m down more than six pounds.)

It just jumped up and grabbed my ankle, I swear

(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens and/or a Nikon CoolPix S205)

  1. Congrats on the weight loss! I am really glad that your ankle is doing better, too. These shots are awesome– point and shoots can do okay, I guess! That, or the handler is AWESOME ;)

  2. Never doubt the magic capable with a point and shoot. These are wonderful!!! And WAY TO GO with the walking… I bow down to you and your stick-to-it-ness.

  3. Oh honey, you R awesome! Weight loss despite bum ankle…I may just bow to you. *bow* Is your ankle ok now?

And thanks, I oft forget the beauty so close to home.

  4. Pretty and relaxing :) I’m sorry to hear that you fell but am glad you weren’t too injured. I, too, took a digger (last night, fell on some ice) and am hitting the ice pretty hard tonight. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we are both just feeling our ages and will be givin’ ‘r in no time :)

  5. Who needs to go on photo hikes when you have such great material right near your home! That said, I hope your ankle heals quickly so you can go hiking again I LOVE your photos.

  6. Love the dock shot. The colors really pop and the reflection is quite interesting. Makes me annoyed that I have snow on the ground LOL. The framing on the bird’s nest is cool too, really like the fact that it isn’t quite centered.

  7. Great images again, love them!
Congrats, well done, over six pounds! I promise to start walking when I’m in better condition…
    Have a good week ahead!
